I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a morning person. I’ve been seriously slacking on my breakfast duties lately. With the start of school, I have not transitioned well from the slow mornings of summer. Many mornings this week, my kids have been foraging in the kitchen for their own breakfasts while I make lunches. When my son made himself a peanut butter & jelly sandwich this morning, I’ve realized I need to up my game on the breakfast front. Stay tuned for (healthier) breakfast ideas coming soon!
Most mornings, I do manage to make smoothies. It’s an easy way to get a lot of nutrition at the start of your day. Plus, it’s just a matter of sticking a bunch of ingredients in a blender, and breakfast is served. Even I can do that first thing in the morning…
With banana and mango keeping things sweet, this smoothie is pretty kid-friendly. If your child is averse to anything green, try putting your smoothie in an opaque or non-translucent cup. I also find straws are a fun (and faster) way to get kids slurping down their smoothies!
